What L1 bridges on a Athlon XP 1600+ allow me to up the multiplier but not lower? If I can bridge only a couple I would be happy. I am just wanting to overclock with it since I have PC2100.

Anyone have a link?

I'd like to know just the opposite. I'd like to know if you can just unlock one or a few bridges to unlock lower multipliers. I have PC2700 coming tomorrow and I'd like to run my system synchronously.

i thikn u've got a palomino core,so connecting all L1 bridges and break 1 alreayd connected L10 bridge and connect the other already broke L10 bridge.U should get 13x & higher multipliers.

heck I didnt even know I had to fool with the L10 bridges. I thought all I had to do was connect the L1 bridges. Was hopeing to be able to only connect a couple of those to unlock the higher multipliers.

Long comprehensive explanation
Interactive bridge guides

The L1 bridges provide a connection from the multiplier circuitry on the chip to the CPU pins. If connected they allow motherboards to overide the set multiplier, if the mobo is so equiped. When the bridges are open, it is impossible for the mobo to set the multiplier, because there is no connection to the multiplier circuitry on the CPU. Older motherboards only had mobo connections to 4 multiplier bridges (if any), but present XP CPUs have 5 bridges. If you set the high multiplier high by opening it, you get the higher multipliers >12.5. If you set the high multiplier low by connecting it, you get multipliers up to 12.5. The latest Tbred Bs have some of the multipliers remapped from what they were and they have not been fully documented.

Not enough info?

On my 1700+ Tbred B, I opened the 5th L3 bridge, to get multpliers of 15,22,16,16.5,17,18,19, and 20. 13,13.5, and 14 are unavailable. The L1 bridges came connected. Without the L1s connected you can't set multipliers from the mobo.

before I pay $10 for a defogger repair pen is all I need to do is connect the L1 bridges and nothing else? Or do I have to connect them and connect other bridges? I guess I got a palomino my default voltage is 1.75v.

If I have to connect a crap load of bridges and cut 1 I think I will pass. Just way to risky. I may try to trade it for a tbred or maybe upgrade my PC2100 to PC2700 and just use the FSB?

Thanks for the help all.
