Im thinking about getting the MSI KT133A motherboard non raid or the Abit KT133A motherboard non raid. overclocking isnt a big issue, mostly stability and reliability are the main factors. so what do you guys/gals recommend? thanks for the help.

The KT7A is a sweet ass board even if you're not overclocking. It's very stable and such, makes for a good system. The only downside is its a little pricey. If you're on a budget, MSI makes decent boards, as does AOpen. EPoX's boards are of high quality also. Those, along with ASUS are the board manufacturers that I would recommend.

First of all ready Anand's recent KT133A roundup, and personally, I would get Asus A7V133, or IWill's KK266. A7V133 has RAID 0, KK266 does have a RAID version.

For Stability, MSI, Asus and Iwill will do a good job. I would recommend the Asus solely because I have one. The Anandtech review showed that 48hrs straight without a crash on these three boards, is that good enough for stability.

JobLessOne,

I recently went through the same process as you are going through now. I decided on the Asus A7V133 for a few reasons:

1) I stayed away from the DDR MBs because last board I bought was the Abit BE6. I bought it when it first came out and it has been unstable ever since. I am going to wait on technology until some of the major kinks have been worked out.
2) Because of my Abit BE6 experiences, I wanted a stable board.
3) ASUS has always been a stable board for me. I have owned a number of them before and have never had trouble. In fact the Abit was my first foray away from ASUS and it was unpleasant.
4) There are a number of knowledgable A7V133 owners here at Anandtech who are willing to help.
5) Once I decided I was going with the KT133A chipset, then I didn't even consider any of the other board makers because of my great experiences with ASUS in the past.

Luckily, I can tell you that my good experiences with ASUS continue. The only problems I have had with my new setup have been self induced.

Just set up my A7V133 today with a Duron 750 (will be doing <1GHZ later) and can't complain. I have also had an A7V that rocked as well.:D
