Hi,
I was wondering what issues, if any there was between ATI cards and Tribes2.

Can you list them and known fixes.

Thanks in advance.

I love Tribes 2!

I currently play with an nVidia (though I'm upgrading to an ATI this week), so I can't give you first hand experience. However, several of my tribemates play with Radeons, anywhere from the LE to the 9700 Pro. They've never reported any issues. Beyond personal experience, I'm not aware of any outstanding T2 graphics card issues in general, at least with the latest T2 patch (25XXX) and newer vid. card drivers.

Have fun playing. Are you upgrading to an ATI card? If so, what kind are you getting? I'm presently trying to decide between a 9600Pro, or a 9500 non-p. (Thinking about making a thread to get some advice on the matter)

I'm assuming you're talking about the R3XX series, there aren't any in game/action problems with Tribes 2 and the cards. I checked out the last patch though and there are still menu/setup screen issues when using anti-aliasing. I think I tried it at the time with the 3.2 Catalysts, and from what I understand the issues can't be fixed on ATI's end. Like I said, it doesn't affect the actual gameplay, but it creates a "black-out" effect within the game menus. You can use the cursor as a kind of spotlight to navigate the menus and setup things to your liking. This certainly isn't a deal breaker for me, but it may be to you, so heads up.

Ive heard of the AA issue. Ive also heard that the Tribes2 engine was primarily designed for nvidia cards, so thats why there is no problems with them, but Radeons have loads, like the AA issue, poor performance, ect;

I have a 9700pro, so yes, im on about the r3xx series.

Ive had Tribes2 for a bit, but never played it much before, cos when i got it, i had a 56k modem, so i was stuck with SP. But now i have ADSL 512/256, and i wanted a team baced game to use online, i was going to buy BF1942, but then realised i had Tribes2.

I've got a 9700 Pro with 3.5 Cats. and I have no issues other than the menu blackout. In game, it runs perfectly and smoothly.

Can't wait to get rid of my dinky little GF2MX. :(

Just gotta find a 9700NP for ~$200 from a reputable dealer (hopefully non-powercolor).
