What kinds of white wines and red wines are good for cooking?

I have no idea what wines to use in recipes. They always state something like:

Use a:

full bodied wine
robust red wine
dry white wine
crisp dry white wine
sweet white wine
fortified wine

Since I don't drink, I have no idea whatsoever which wines are, say, sweet or dry or crisp...

For cooking you should just go for the cheapest wine you would drink of either type.

Link

The problem with this is that I don't drink, and I hate the taste of wine, so I'm not sure what wine I would drink...

Even though I hate the taste of wine, I love it's taste in cooking.

The link is great! Thanks!

I used a merlot once in a stead maranade. Added some crushed cyan pepper, salt, worstchihwdofhsdf sauce, and some other stuff. Made for some REALLY tasty steaks.....man I wish I had a kitchen in this dorm.
