What kinds of useful things do you keep in your car trunk?

Just curious what people have in their car trunk? I have a box with a full change of clothes and coat, one of those cheap all-in-wonder tv/radio/flashlight/compass things given to me as a Christmas present, a few car towels, and an old replacement bulb for a headlight.

I gave away my jumper cables because I heard you can blow up your computer :Q but I'm not sure that's true.

Thinking about a first aid kit and getting some tools, but I haven't worked on a car in many years. Maybe some flares?

Individuals who may have accidently strolled in front of a particular moving vehicle that just might have been running a red light.

...OH and a can of fix a flat!

Glad you asked.

I have a black plastic bin in my trunk that holds a few fluffy towels, air compressor, socket wrench set, open end wrench set, roll of paper towels, spray bottle of ammonia solution, and a bungie cord. Plus, a back brace for no reason.
I should probably be carrying a flashlight.

When I had a car - a flashlight with bateries, a spare tire, a star wrench b/c the wrench supplied with the tire blows chunks, the basic car jack, and jumper cables.

lies...

yah, maybe if you leave it on there for 5 mins it could hurt your car, but if you are just jumping it it cant hurt. so, in summation:

1) you can jump your car with cables and another car with no problems
2) after jumping...let your alternator charge the battery until such time you can get to a real charger
3) never let the other car charge your battery unless it is not hooked up to yours
