For me its the side scrolling beat-em-ups.

Trying out that TMNT demo that came out a few days ago made me think of the days I used to spend in the arcades playing Final Fight and things like Sunset Riders and The Simpsons (and of course the arcade TMNT games).

What kind of games do you miss that they used to make but have since dropped off the radar in terms of popularity?

My wife LOVED the Sierra point-and-click adventures (I.E. Kings Quest series)

I remember solving the Police Quest series

The lucasarts adventure games like Full Throttle, Loom, Monkey Island, etc.

Those were better than the Quest games because you couldn't screw yourself at the end of the game because you forgot to give your dagger to the princess 3 hours earlier.

I liked the simple RPGs like Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II.

I also dig the old Final Fight and side-scrollers of the sort. MAME to the rescue! Building that arcade cabinet was such a great idea. I need a camera to take some pics..... someday.

The FPS like Unreal Tournament, NOLF, Jedi Knight, etc.

Seriously, I miss very litle, cuz you can still play most of them today. I miss the fact that games aren't very original anymore... but... eventually that'll change again.

TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and old school RPGs where they cared more about story then flashy graphics.

How much did it end up costing?

What kind of system you have running in it?

How long did it take?

Where you get the plans?

I miss hardcore military sims. LOMAC is coming out soon, but it's been like 5 years since there has been a good jet sim. And Harpoon 4 has been in development since God was a kid.

The classic nintendo games... also the Sierra games you had to type the instructions in like Police Quest, Colonel's Bequest, etc.

Roberta Williams was awesome at creating games
