what kinda suite of software to spyware/virus-proof a computer

hi,

im sure many of you here can relate... youre fairly web savvy but older relatives are not and thus their computer gets slammed with bugs every week. these things are especially getting trickier and sneakier all the time.

i ran native windows firewall, ewido software, firefox browser, and spybot s&d background protection services on the comp but the MS-patched computer still got attacked... i need something harder-hitting


can you all recommend a good package / suite of software to combat this situation without being overly compromised (ie having to disable ALL java/activex stuff). i dont use any of these on my personal comps so i dont know what's what

give up while your ahead. as long as the users have physical acess to the machine they will find a way to hose it.

but anyway best thing i ever did for my father was to take away admin access.
