I didn't think bathtubs had paint. Aren't they all fiberglass these days?

Depends on what finish that you have for the bath tub.

Steel tub tend to use enamel that require cleaning, surface sanding, and reglazing with enamel.

Fiberglass tub require reglazing with epoxy, and all cracks can be repair by supporting the backing with more fiberglass.

Acrylic tub with minor scratches can be sand down & repolish.

A tub liner is another way to go.

IMHO, it is not worth the time reglazing your tub unless it is relatively minor scratches on acrylic because with a little more time & money you can install a new tub & have a new bathroom.

Pfft... shows what you know. They'll let anybody post anything on the internet.

OP... I used to work for the largest bath tub paint manufacturer in Nebraska. All you need is a simple latex paint. After it dries it creates a hard coat that will last for years.

You have got to be kidding. Most home improvement people shy away from recommending re-glazing because of the chances for failure with in a couple of years is so common. Now, you are recommending a simple latex paint to be submerged in water and take the abuse of people standing on it?

What abuse? It saves you the trouble of having to put those non-slip sticky things on the bottom of the tub. Kills two birds with one stone. Just mix a little sand into the latex.
