What kinda overclocks have people been getting with the 6800NU??

Been thinking about getting this card. Specifically the EVGA 6800NU at Newegg.com.
Has anyone attempted to overclock this card? If so, what kinda results are you getting??

I got the EVGA 6800 from Newegg. 6.1.7.2 drivers from EVGA using coolbits 370/810 the optimal frequency detection haven't tried it higher yet.

I'm starting to bench some games. I'll bench it at stock speed when I'm done to see how it stacks up. I haven't tried clocking it any higher. It hits about 66C and no artifacts or errors. I'll post Far Cry #'s in a bit

Looks like a good overclocker, and it does help when using max settings. Far Cry is definately demanding, especially with all the eye candy enabled. You aren't going to be playing high resolutions and everything maxed with a 6800 standard + Mobile Barton...no sir

Another eVGA 6800nu owner here. Just overclocked mine tonight. Some odd and great things happening with my oc.

For those who might not know, default core is 325, default mem is 700. I overclocked mine via coolbits to a core 380, mem 810. After two 3DMark03 tests, everything is stable, and no signs of tearing or artifacts.

3DMark03 score before oc was 8845, after overclock went to 9053. Not a bad jump (the 200+ mark increase attributes to a couple extra frames a second in most tests).

The odd thing that happened was that before the tests, my video card was running around 69C, and afterward, it had went down to 65C!

I will probably try later on to reach speeds of 400 core, 850 mem.

I think you'll enjoy the card, but I wouldn't look for GT performance out of it OCd.

I think a real game is the best indicator of OCd performance gains, so I had it test for safe, used the 390/832 it detected, and got the following results:


UT2003 Holy Sh*t settings (all highest), 4X 8X, sound on, nVidia on "Quality":

325/700MHz

12X9
Flyby 126fps Botmatch 68fps
16X12
Flyby 68fps Botmatch 43fps

390/832MHz

12X9
Flyby 158fps Botmatch 74fps
16X12
Flyby 82fps Botmatch 49fps

I consider Flyby results nowhere near as important as bot match, as they mainly test fill rate. Unfortunately, the Botmatch increases were around 10%, even though the OC was around 20%. I don't think anyone could notice the difference between 68/74fps or 43/49fps, so IMO the OC isn't worth doing.

On the other hand, I still think the 6800NU is a great buy and offers very good performance in most games at 12X10 with some AA/AF. Here's another review I just saw that agrees with me:

What we find here is that the GeForce 6800 is actually costing the least in terms of dollars/fps at 1280x1024, which came as a bit of a surprise.

At $300, the GeForce 6800 offers up good price/performance, particularly running at 1280x1024.
