What kinda errors could ECC RAM correct?

ECC detects ad fixes single bit flips errors in memory. It is a improvment on parity which detects a bit flip and then crashes anyway. ECC is highly recommended for servers.

Its extremely useful when you have a large amount of ram.

It does incur a rather noticeable performance penalty.
