this is really weird...I have this "enchanced" cd full of .wav files. basically, you put it in your cd-rom and a program pops up automatically to play the songs which are in a seperate fold (d:\songs\).

what I want to do is to create a regular cd so those songs can be played in a regular stereo. so I copied and pasted the song onto my hard drive. I was hoping I would be able to burn those .wav songs onto a cd. but what's weird is that a typical song is about 5 mins and they are ONLY 5 megs. shouldn't they be 50?

and I used winamp to look at the file info:

file size: 5080670
length: 0:05:17.81
data format:
- Size of Format: 32
- Format: MPEG Layer-3 ??
- Channels: 2
- Samplerate: 44100
- Bytes/Sec: 16000
- Block Align: 1
output format:
- Bits/Sample: 16
- Channels: 2
- Samplerate: 44100

so why are these wav files so small? why does it says the format is mpeg layer 3? and can I still burn these files onto a cd that can be played in a stereo?

Somebody probably renamed the mp3 files to wav. Use Preferences/Plug-ins/Output/Disk Writer plugin in Winamp to convert mp3 files to wav files.

if you mean that it's really an mp3 file w/ a ".wav" extension, I don't think that's it. I just renamed an mp3 file to .wav and tried to play it in winamp - it says it's not a valid wav file. so I doubt it's just an mp3 file in disguise. or do you mean something else entirely?

Bits/Sample: 16

There you go. I think thats why. Normal MP3's are 128+ bits. Dunno i'f I'm right though.

That looks a lot like an mp3 file, it's the right size, sample rate, bitrate, and it even says mpeg layer 3, (mp3).

BTW,

what does afaik mean again?

so how do I get it to play in a cd stereo?

if it matters, I have winamp, MMWave2k (wav -> mp3), and music match jukebox.
