Refresh Rate - Max/Recommended: 140Hz / 98Hz

Signal Input: Captive 15 pin mini D-sub , BNC

Power Supply: AC 90 - 264 V, 50/60 Hz

Dimensions: 22.5 in. (W) x 19.7 in. (H) x 20.6 in (D)

Other: Super Fine Pitch? FD Trinitron tube, 24" (61 cm); DQL (Dynamic Quadrupole Lens)and MALS (Multi-Astigmatism Lens System) with EFEAL (Extended Field Elliptical
Aperture Lens) and L-SAGIC? (Low Voltage Small Aperture G1 with Impregnated
Cathode) dynamic focus systems; BLC (Beam Landing Correction); Hi-Con and
AR screen coatings (high contrast, anti-reflection/antistatic)

So what kind/level of video card do i need for just basic movie watching and surfing?

How about gaming? What would i need for the recommended veiwing gaming?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

well since its a CRT, you dont really need that high end of a card for gaming since CRT's scale different resolutions very well

if you wanted to play at its max res, then id take a guess that 7800's in SLI would be the best option, for basic 2D i think any card would be fine, but dont quote me on that.

i think anything from a 6800GS up to a 7800GTX would be good. or if your prefer ATI the X850XT, (or you could jump on these x800GTO2's floating around that can be modded) or one of the newer cards like the x1800xl, x1800xt

Ok, a few more questions,

#1 would the widescreen make the games look odd?

#2 I've noticed when using my old crt, that when i play games , the veiwing image is smaller then the actual size of the screen (is this scaling you mentioned?), so i expand the screen to fill it up. when downsizing from the recommended veiwing of 1920x1200, to something smaller(dont know what resolution it would be) would it still fill the screen?

#3 Is this worth $479 ?

Widescreen won't stretch the image, if that's what you're asking. In CRTs, you need to adjust the screen size (using the buttons on your monitor) to stretch the image to fit the screen. You need to do this for each different resolution you are going to want to use (although it should remember the settings once you enter them).

I'm assuming it's a refurb or off-lease monitor

kind of a crapshoot to buy a used crt. do some research on the company and make sure they will will pay return shipping for a defective unit. some resellers offer at least 15-30 days free return. lots of people have gotten great deals of this screen, I'm thinking of getting one myself.

If you get a good one it's definitely worth it

Some games support widescreen and will look perfect, while most others support resolutions that will scale very well to widescreen and be very close to perfect when you adjust the image size with the moniter controls.
$479 is ok if you get a decent warranty & return policy, plus you have to take shipping charges into account on that thing because its a monster... very nice moniter overall though.

Its shipping and the 6 month warranty are included for the price.

Well I guess it's between this bad boy or a eVGA 6800GT AGP (current: radeon 9200), Antec smart power 500w and 1GB of Corsair VS RAM.

What do you guys think?
