2 years ago during a sale on Dell.com, I bought an 82" Mitsubishi DLP. It's been goddamned amazing to game on, I've replaced the bulb once in it, and eventually something will probably go wrong that makes it cost prohibitive to fix, but until then, it's been the best purchase I've made in like a decade.

I bought a 32" Samsung 720p for about $800 right before the prices on smaller HDTVs crashed, but I haven't regretted it at all. It's just the right size for gaming for me, and I think it's a better TV than the current cheaper 32" HDTVs for sale nowadays.

The picture is amazing.

I've got a 26'' HDTV I use as a computer monitor and for my PS3. It's only 720p but it does the job. Supports 1080p inputs, which is good because 1080 looks better on a 1360x768 screen.

I have a 50" plasma (Pioneer 5080) that I use for TV (on my HTPC) and PS3. I sit 3' from a 32" 1080p TV (L32S1) as my computer monitor. I also watch some TV and occasionally play PS2 on it.

I don't see how a TV that's good for console wouldn't be good for TV and vice versa. The main issue is connecting your computer to it. You'll want a 1080p TV and one that does 1:1 pixel mapping via HDMI; otherwise, the TV will scale your PC connection (i.e. look awful). I also recommend looking at this viewing distance chart. Use the red line as a guide for viewing distance, and at least try to stay between the green and red lines. In other words, if your viewing distance is 10', don't buy a 32" TV like so many people do.

Vizio 32" 1080p LCD

Simple enough

I've thought of going bigger but the living room is pretty small so it works. I don't play console games online so it doesn't really hold me back.

I use a 58" Samsung 1080p plasma for my 360 and PS3 (mainly blu-ray). Both gaming and TV viewing is awesome, but I definitely wish I would have went with the 63-65". And to think I held off cause it "might be too big." On the bright side I stayed on the less expensive side of things staying south of the 60" mark.

Still intrigued by a nice projector setup though...

58" Samsung 1080p plasma here too. It was definitely at my size threshold at the time but I'm moving soon and plan to go the massive screen/projector rate in the new home.
