What kind of tv mount?

Hey guys got a question about the type of mount that I should purchase for my HDTV. Couldn't find an actual thread or page dedicated to this so i'm posting it here.

The picture linked is of the inset i want to mount the tv. I plan to place all our dvd players and video games in the tv hole and then mount the tv in front of them.

Is there a mount that will extend that far out from the back of the hole that will still give me swivel motion to be able to access the dvd players and game systems behind the tv? I don't even know if the signals from our dishnetwork remote will reach the rcvr if it is behind the tv. I don't know if it is line of sight or not.

ANy help or advice on how i should set this up would be great. I'd like to be able to have all the players and games in that tv hole and then mount the tv around it also.

And this is what I'm trying to accomplish. Forgive the horrible paint skills.

There should be something from Chief Mfg that meets your needs, depending on depth and mounting position. Something like this (there is a nifty animation as well) might work:

yeah i'm not sure if that extension is enough. I'm going by the new house today at lunch to measure it and see what the depth measurement is currently. I know now that the satellite dish is IR remote. So i'll have to look into something that can convert it from IR. I think there is something like a repeater or such that accomplishes this when the rcvrs don't have Line of Sight to the remotes.

Do you have a stud/studs and sufficient clearance to do a top/ceiling mount (inside the cubby, of course)?

Not sure. I'll have to take a stud finder over there and find out or not knock my hand around to find out. If i did it that way it would make it a little hard to connect and disconnect cables and such on the back of the tv. B/c it would only swing back into the cubby right?

I imagine it would, since most ceiling mounts have little, if any, extension/retraction and/or pivot capabilities.

From my brief searches at mountsandmore.com, it seems that the Chief PDR has the most extension of any standard wall mount. If that is not sufficient, you might have to get creative by rigging up new mounting points that are closer to the opening.

Ok so I'm approaching this with a different solution now. Now I'm thinking about just putting up some 2x4s maybe 2-3 across the cubby hole and attaching the mount to them.

Behind the white trim in the picture is actually about 5-6 inches of space in the cubby that i would be able to drill in the 2x4s. I of course would use some pretty hard core bolts from Lowe's or something. I'm pretty sure this would be enough. The 5-6 inches of space in the cubby directly behind the trim feels very solid like there is in fact studs there.

Anyone have any opinions?
