What kind of throughput could I expect from a laptop USB2.0 port?

My HP Pavilion ze2000 series won't go faster than 8MB/s... is this something common to a laptop USB2.0 controller?

Was this the Wal-Mart special model?

Looks like it is supposed to have USB 2.0:

However if I'm correct and it is the Wal-Mart model, (A) I wouldn't be surprised if they actually skimped and you don't have USB 2.0 or (B) some of those Radeon Xpress chipsets were known for terrible USB performance.

How are you measuring it?
