Hey,

I wanted to know what the max (and min, if possible) temperature(s) CAT5 cabling can withstand? I'm thinking about running some cables through the walls of my house and am (kinda) worried that it'll get kinda hot during the summertime perhaps.

Our cables are running through the basement where it is extremely humid and hot. It is a dormitory; serving about 300 connections +. Everything except the patch cables that connect patch panels with the hubs is shielded in a sorta plastic tube that can be opened and then closed when you need to mess with the cables. In the summer it sucks down there at all. You can literally fry eggs on the door of the boiler room. I would post a pic of that setup but dunno how to do it here.

All the cables are regular cat 5 and i think when they are shielded I think they are ok.At least this stuff works for us.

The temperatures in the walls of your house won't affect the cable at all. I am running mine through the heating ducts and it isn't causing any problems.

Same here. Running CAt5 through the heating vents, and it works just fine....in the summer anyway...:)
