What kind of sweetner should I use in this flavored water?

So I got those flavored water things, because those were the only ones at Costco at the time. Well I got one, thinking it wouldn't be THAT bad... Too bad it is THAT bad... So now, I want to at least sweeten it. The question is, can I just add sugar? I've tried adding some splenda (which other companies put in their flavored water), and I got that mentos coke reaction ...

Ideas?

Dissolve the sugar in hot water, then pour that in.
