What kind of surface do outdoor basketball courts have?

Yup, buying some backboards and rims to help build a basketball court at a university in Vietnam. I've been given some land for it, but they just need to know what kind of surface I need and I have no idea- any suggestions?

Or links to where I could look this up? Did a look on Google, but couldn't find much, and I really know nothing about grades of asphalt or concrete or........yeah I have no idea. I just play on it : P

Thanks!

there are 2 possibilities...

Concrete - expensive, but last longer.
Asphalt - cheap, but doesnt last quite as long

Contact your local public works department and ask them for information.

They are the ones that control contracts for the Parks & Rec departments when those courts are put in. They can give you the explanations that you need so as to be able to discuss intelligently with people in VN.

Use bones. Sharp jagged ones, mixed with razorblades....Mr. T with all that jibba jabba....good for the children.

Bad humor still requires proper usage.

You failed here:thumbsdown:

Well, just looking for options, and then I can ask about pricing.

Is asphalt a better playing surface? For some reason I think it's less durable, but I know nothing about these things.

never played on one, so i can't really comment on it. also, i have no clue if you can get the stuff to Vietnam.

I grew up playing on concrete basketball courts. The parks in Gwinnett County, GA seem to be putting courts with this surface (or a very similar product) down now though.
