I just put some new Bosh Platinum 2 spark plugs in my car. I'm not sure if it was worth the extra money, but I guess there must be a reason why they are still selling them.

Another for Denso Iridium...and yes, for $69 you'd expect to see a change, but you dont

AC spark plugs, those Rapid Fire thingies. They were free, compliments of my former employer who had some laying around, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them. I would have just bought the OEM replacement plugs for $1.00 a piece. I replace them every 30-40K miles, anyways.

NGK Laser Platinum
As the name implies, state of the art laser welding procedures are used in the manufacturing of NGK Laser Platinum Spark Plugs. These spark plugs are manufactured to the rigorous demands of OEM car makers and modern service length requirements. Among the features of the NGK Laser Platinum Spark Plug are:
Lasers are used for pinpoint precision welds, reducing excess debris. The reduction of debris decreases the required voltage to bridge the spark gap.
Platinum tips welded on the ground and center electrodes reduce the wear rate on both of these surfaces.
Ensures greater durability and long life.

Bosh Platinums, no need to gap them. This is the first time that I tried them. They are fine, better be for $4 each.

Splitfires.....paid 2for $2.40 at K-Mart closing sale. Put em in, now my Jeep V-8 idles rougher than before, seems to run alright, but no "gains" noticed here. I only get like 8-10mpg anyways. Sure glad I didn't pay full retail.

Gotta love marketing, you guys are really willing to spend $70 on a spark plug?

Bosch Platinum for me, be sure to use a little anti-seize on the threads so when you replace them in 100K miles that they come out easy...

Anyone have any dyno testing that shows a difference between spark plugs?

Being a mechanic I can tell you most plugs are about the same, but if you want to stick to a OEM style then follow this chart.....

GM = AC Delco
Ford = Autolite or Motorcraft
Chrysler = Champion
Jap. cars = NGK or Denso
Euro. cars = Bosch

This will be the closet to a factory style plug
I know autozone has the Factory Plat. AC Delco and Motorcrft plugs

I would be extremely surprised if there was a measurable difference between any two types of plugs from when they were brand new to 20K miles.
