what kind of soldering iron do i need?

i'd just be soldering wires and things like that.. 30 watts? 40 watts?? quick help! i'll be leaving my house in like 5 minutes

I got a dual 20/40 watt pencil iron station from Canadian Tire a while ago for like $35 after (Manitoba's relatively insane 13%) tax. The 20 watt setting is good for small electronics ( mosfets, diodes, etc), but if you don't think you'll need it you can probably just go out and get a 40 watt pencil iron.

What is it you're doing, exactly?
