I've got a shirt that needs to be handwashed. What kind of soap should be used? I was figuring detergent, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the info. :)

Use Ivory dishwashing liquid - that is the most cost-effective soap for washing fine washables like silk. If the shirt has any other fiber mixed with the silk it may not be washable, so handle with care - if it says "Dry Clean Only" I would stick to that.

Get a little bottle of detergent specifically made for fine fabrics. Can't think of any good brands other brands besides Woolite. You'll find it with the regular detergent in the store.

Also make sure to wash it in cold water if you're not sure if warm water will be ok.
