What kind of slot is this? It's from an Acer Aspire 5100.
Also, the CPU is very easy to get to... anyone know if it's upgradeable? Currently using an AMD Turion64 x2 and I'd like to update it.

Thanks everyone!

I believe it's a mini-PCI Express card slot. I don't think you can use much other than wireless cards in it.
Odds are, you can upgrade to a Turion64 of the same socket and "series" - others may be usable with a firmware upgrade.

I have never heard of any laptop with the CPU being upgradable, or for that matter removable. I have been inside about 15 and with all of them the CPU was surface-mounted (soldered) to the motherboard.

 Which 15 were those? I have four sitting in my house that are all rather easily upgradeable....

Not to mention direct knowledge that just about every major manufacturer uses an upgradeable CPU socket, short of Apple.

The Turion 64 X2 socket is S1 and is compatible with T64 X2's, T64 MK-series, and S1-socket Sempron 64's. As far as an upgrade, all you can do is get a faster T64 X2.
