For 90% of the breeds existence, aggressiveness towards humans was completely bred out--it's only in the last 2 decades or so that ghetto punk fuckwads have been actively breeding ultra aggressiveness back into them.

banning a breed is the most ridiculous, uninformed, and ultimately useless way to address such a problem (first, define "Pit bull." There are currently some 100 or so different breeds and types related to the American Bull Terrier that are commonly referred to as "Pit bulls")

Any breed of dog can be a shithead with the right owners. I was a vet tech for a while years back and I learned to be wary of dachshunds, chihuahuas, and jack russells far more than any pit bull.

yeah. I think I would back some sort of licensing program to breed the dogs--specifically for Pit Bull breeds. (don't you need to be licensed for any type of breeding? well, maybe not required, but it does establish you as a more trustworthy breeder, right?)

Not that I think it would stop asswhipes from making little monsters, but it would hopefully make such owners/breeders much easier to prosecute. A simple, "oh you don't have a Pit Bull breeding license? Here's a $250,000 fine, Have a nice day."

Potential breeders would have to go through a vetting process, probably overseen by credible and licensed breeders, only breeders can apply and receive in name (no one can apply for someone else), etc...
