I am trying to open my compaq laptop but it uses a weird screw. It's looks like the star kinda thing

does anybody know what kind of screw driver do I need to use to open it?

thanks

Darno

It's probably the "truss-head" screw used by most compaq equipment. I'm only familiar with their desktops, so I can't tell you what size you need for a laptop. But most likely it's the "truss" head.

never tried to get into a Compaq laptop, but I have found Torx-head bits included in some really cheap screwdriver sets (the ones with interchangable bits) G/L 🙂

Those are Torx-Head screws, and they are used by a lot of manufacturers - not just compaq. You can find them in most any hardware store. Ace is the place!

yeah they are the same scerws used in nokia phone

so if u've changed your face plate a few times on your phone u can use that same screwdriver

thanks...

I got it already but dang... it's hard to open my compaq laptop

I tried it for hours but something is holding it

Dont forget to unscrew the screws in the battery compartments if something is holding you back.

I have one question. You have the compaq900z right? And is it easy to change the dvd drive? Just two screws right?
