so far I can't find a job that would hire me, I tried a whole bunch of resturants as waiter or cashier, but they rejected me coz I had no experience. Tried McDonalds and BurgerKing, and they haven't replied (I guess I "overqualified" by stating I am a College Student). Tried those mum and pop computer store, no reply. Tried motherfuking Blockbuster and no reply.

one reason I think that contribute to these rejection is because of my limited hours available. My school schedule is pretty much packed from Monday to Friday (free on Fri afternoon); plus I may not be looking at the right field that would hire ppl like me.

so where could I even start?

Edit:
[i took out the being fired Ross part coz it DOES NOT concern you all and primarily does not contribute to this matter/question, which is where to find a weekend job]

Think you can handle telemarketing? They might be able to work something out with you. How about walmart as well?

well, my dad works as a tennis teachin pro, and i notice he is always looking for help in the shop. u know, stay at the desk and answer phones for people to book courts etc, so the pros can get out on court and play. i'm sure this applies to many sport clubs though, and it usually helps if u can play the sport. for EG, i helped himout once, and got payed by the club to hit balls with the members hehe

Maybe he's a crappy employee.

Here's a note though: There's no shortage of people willing to work on weekends. You'd have 10x better chances of getting a job at blockbuster working 9-5 on weekdays than nights and weekends. They have a million other college students applying for those same hours.

Get an internship or something.

Where in LA are you?
Try applying @ the Cheesecake Factory for work in the Bakery.
The Brentwood location (near Westwood) is in dire need of additional help.
Starting pay is probably something like 8-8.50 an hour plus tips, very flexible schedules.

They conduct interviews every Monday from 2-4pm.
PM me if you have any questions.

I flipped through Employment Guide and found two type of jobs all over the places:
telemarketing and Truck drivers.

I won't really mind truck driving if I have the time, but i definitely cannot handle Telemarketing. I will not work a job that I hate others doing it.

and I got fired from Ross coz I was late a couple of times during my 3-months probation.
and notfred: I may not be the most puntucal employee, but I am definitely not Crappy.

and my sentiments are exactly what notfred mentioned: too many college student looking for the same kind of jobs for quick cash to pay off party debts and booze money.

and i will go try Walmart, K Mart, Target, those types and Supermarket chains later.
and what kind of sport stores you are talking about Acidvoodoo? you mean a shop that sells Tennis equipment WHILE your dad is also available as tennis coach?

Considering that you were fired after less than a month, and you can only work two days a week, you'd have to have been late, what, about 1/2 the time?

Every employer will require you to be punctual.

Where I work more people get fired for attendance than anything else.

Get used to it, real life requires that you be reliable.

Try a motel. And if you don't miind working graveyard shift and every weekend, apply for a Motel Night Auditor job. Plenty to be found because of the hours and weekend shift. They pay was pretty good when I did it 15 years ago. A simple job, especially now with everything computerized. And, it's usually the springboard for management in a motel if that interests you at all.

Have you considered the following?:

-> Web work for small companies (you could do some of the work during the week)
-> Weekend computer operator position for various companies in your area (many people don't want to work weekends, but shift-work might be involved)
-> Tutoring high school students in math or english subjects
-> Tutoring freshman college students who are having trouble with their courses
-> Typing term papers for other lazy students (so they can party on the week ends)

That's about it - I'm all out of ideas.

Not true. I've been a lucky one, but all but 1 employer really cared if I was late to work. The rest didn't care unless it was VERY late, like 30 or 45 minutes late. The only employer that cared was Blockbuster, which is the closest thing I've had to working for a big corporation. I will never work for one again. :)

The Walmart distribution center around here is always advertising for people to work the weekend shift. I think they start at around $13.25/hr plus bennies.

and to Notfred:

I am not complaining / bitching Ross for firing me, I got what I deserved and I learned a lesson from it.

okay, and now leave it alone, I stated it as fact. and that's it. I don't want everyone to start a seperate argument on my integrity.

I don't think being late affects your integrity, just your puntuality. :)

Anyway, the some kind of places that have been mentioned. YOu're jsut going to have to keep trying. Just go to the nearest shopping center and grab an application at every place that doesn't look like it'd be a hellhole to work in.

Easy to get jobs: answering phones or retail. The reason is because both of these are high turnover, I know I have worked both. You could be the biggest skank on the earth and get a job at the mall or doing telemarketing type stuff. Once you get a year of that under your belt and have school finished, finding a real job will be easier.

Two words:

Newspaper Delivery

Most newspapers are always looking for subs to fill in for sick, lazy, or vacationing newspaper carriers. You can earn pretty good money filling in as a sub for the 2 - 4 hours they need you. When i worked at a newspaper a 3 years ago, we paid our subs more than carriers made, as they were kind of on an 'oncall' basis.

Check with your local newspaper(s). Most will need lots of extra help inserting ads for the upcoming holidays as well.
