I'm getting tired of sitting home all day wasting my summer away doing nothing and having no money.

How should I go about looking? I really don't want to go to every store out there asking for a job application, calling them several days later, and having them say no..

I want to do something as easy as possible, and I don't care what the pay is, I just basically want an excuse to leave home and have something to show for it.

Try non-profit organizations, parks and recreation department or public library.
You may be able to get on some of the highway construction projects as a runner.
If they do not have actual jobs, volunteer and grab the experience.

My first job was at a Thriftway grocery store as a courtesy clerk (box boy), it was a lot better than fast food. I had just turned 15, a little scrawny kid who could BS (and still can), so they hired me with zero work experience. You're going to really be limited to a grocery store, walmart or fast food. After you get at least 1 year of "real work experience" (putting up with customers crap and complaints) then you can move up the food chain to SENIOR FRENCH FRY QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTOR @ minimum wage.

Just a suggestion, but have you tried asking your parents about maybe their work hiring you for something? My mom inquired and I got a job like a month later when they needed someone .. I start Monday.

Oh, and she doesn't work at McDonalds :p I'm going to be porting stuff to NT from an embedded environment in Console C and I get paid to learn it :)

I highly advise against fast food. Friends who have worked there say it's hell on earth. There are a lot of chicks though. Tough decision ;)

If you can sell yourself, Mickey D's will hire you and if you tough it out long enough, it will help you later on looking for other jobs. My daughter went that route and after toughing Mickey's for 2 years.....everybody was impressed . It could be different in the USA though. Here in Quebec, it appears that if you can hack McD's, you can hack anything.

emulating along.....Sam ;)

Golden,
Your best bet is to call up a temp agency and have them find a job for you. Apple1 and OfficeTeam are just some examples.

How old are you? Caddying is a well paying job if you are okay with having a black neck. You may also try a local mom and pop computer shop(hehe, that rhymes). Or you could take advantage of your lazy summer, and have fun. GL!

Grocery store...here's why

1) Air conditioned
2) There are usually hot chicks your age working there
3) You have the opportunity to steal beer
4) All the food you can eat!!

Those were the days :)
