What are you trying to accomplish. When you take a picture, you need an objective. That is the beginning to the great pictures. It also takes just the perfect timing to..aka...luck!

But, for a heart touching scene, homeless people shivering in the cold clutching a cup of coffee...If your good, you can catch the steam for extra effect....Or a crack baby when its sleeping, nothing hits home like sick babies...crack babies and whatnot. Get them while they sleep...It gives the air of a tortured soul at rest for a minute, the air of innocence lost but at peace.
For more "awe inspiring" scenes, old barns and whatnot in the wild, like a old barn with weeds around it at sunset, or a good stream with tress with light sctreaming down through the trees. This is near impossible with B&W though. Ummm...What else?
Even household objects! Maybe a closeup of your cats face while he sleeps. Look around! Pictures have that effect of letting the mind open up..A black pen sitting on a white paper even. Very plain, and yet it screams to the individual...the possibilities, a new beginning, etc etc. Maybe a good sports shot, but these are tricky..Say, a football player as they lose the game, or a soccer play in midshot of the winning goal, or wrestling is good too...The state champ as he pins, or gets pinned!
Let your mind wander! Come up with a plan. i want to accomplish X with a picture, go where X is valid (you wont find bums in Abercrombie and Finch...) then, its all about a little timing and alot of luck
