What kind of performance should I expect?

I am almost done building my computer and I was wondering how well do you guys suppose it should run?

Biostar Tforce4U mobo (using onboard sound for a while)
3000+ Venice (E6 stepping)
1GB GeIL Value ram
6600gt or 6800gs (can't decide yet)
200 GB Seagate HD
450 Fortron PSU

Think that's all I need to list.

yeah i couldn't afford the best of the best but I just wanted a computer that should be able to run CS, Source, Gun, NFS: most wanted, and any new game that's coming out for at least a year or so to ru n at decent speeds.

Yep you should be fine, that's a great budget build you have, very well thought out.

Good budget rig indeed.

Try to go for the 6800GS if you can; it's roughly double the 6600GT's performance.

Nice value rig .

I'm not sure excactly, but is the opteron 144 about the same price as the 3000+? If so that might be a better choice. I got my opty 144 from 1.8GHz to 2.8GHz with just a .075 voltage raise, and you also have 1MB of cache on the opty. So essentially you get a FX-57 for around $180.

It should run just like something with the following parts:

Biostar Tforce4U mobo (using onboard sound for a while)
3000+ Venice (E6 stepping)
1GB GeIL Value ram
6600gt or 6800gs (can't decide yet)
200 GB Seagate HD
450 Fortron PSU

LOL 😛

Yeah, that will do great... Don't really know about the overclocking potential of a BioStar mobo, because some overclocking on that 3000+ could easily make it a 3500+ or 3800+...

Try to take a 6800GS, it will perform considerably better than a 6600GT...

Well when I went to order the stupid processor, I was going to buy one originally from this forum and all the oppy's were Out Of Stock so somehow my mom just went and ordered me a new 3000+ so I'm stuck and I don't think I can return it (oh well).

And I am pushing very hard for the 6800GS.

I don't plan really on overclocking much if any though. But I looked through all theses parts for a long long time.

i'm not sure how well a biostar performs and how much they cost, but you could consider other motherboards, especially if you plan on overclocking (which i recommend for the 3000+). definitely go with the 6800GS. it's almost as fast as the 6800GT (like 1% slower) and OWNS the x800 series

Yeah I am not nor ever was considering that x800. Also the mobo already came in.

Right now only the 6800gs and a dvd/r drive are needed.
