What kind of performance hit can I expect in games when upgrading resolution size?

Currently have 20" 1680 x 1050. I'd like to get a 24" 1900 x 1200 screen.

Is it going to be a disastrous frame rate drop? Maybe I won't even notice a performance hit?

1,764,000 vs. 2,280,000 pixels. 516,000 or 30% increase in pixels. I would expect at least a 30% slowdown in graphics processing.

I went from 1920x1200 to 2560x1600, it's not quite double the pixels, more like 80% more.

I didn't take a 50% hit, but I'd say it was a good 30-40% fps drop.

Bitchin' -- thanks guys.

So anywhere from a slight hit to not even noticeable. I'll take that.

There’ll be a noticeable performance hit in many modern games if you use AA.

I went from a 22" to a 26" (1680x1050 to 1920x1200) on a 512MB 4870. Games went from smooth as a babies butt to very playable with a hiccup here and there. You have more than enough horsepower with 2x5770's.

I went from 1280x1024 to 1920x1080 on a 9800GTX+ and there was a big performance hit but that card sucks at high rez. That's why I bought a 5870.

I know someone that uses a 9600GSO (original 96SP version), overclocked slightly, to game at 1920x1200 26", and it runs pretty decently. WoW, Warhammer Online, Aion, you name it. Of course, he doesn't play with any AA. I'm sure that would extract a performance hit.
