What kind of p/s is it?

I have just begun to learn about hardware. I need to get a new p/s for an old computer that I am learning on. I think that it has an AT supply, but I'm not completely shure. It has 12 wires running into the motherboard but that's it. What kind do I need and how can I tell the differance between the two?

autoexec,

you have it backwards.

AT is 2 connectors
ATX is 1 large connector

Gumbo,

if the power supply is AT, then MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE BLACK WIRES POINTED INTO THE MIDDLE!

If you put it on backwards, you're gonna fry the motherboard. trust me, I know from experience.

An AT power supply has two plugs end to end with all the wires in a row, an ATX has a single plug with the wires in two rows. Be aware that there are also a multitude of wierd proprietary supplies with many more arrangements in the plugs and wiring such as DEC, Dell, and Packard-Bell.
