what kind of p/s for tbird?

Hi, right now i have a 250watt p/s running
my tbird 800, and a7v mobo. I've got an ata100 hdd, cdr, and cdrom drive running also. SHould i get a 300 or 350 watt power supply?

Also, my cpu core is reading at 49degC idle, and 54 degC actively.I have a golden orb with compound. My mobo reads at 43deg. Is this too hot?

If it is running fine for you, then i wouldn't worry about it...

If you were to really want to get a new one, i'd suggest either a $37 Antec 300W, or a $48 Enermax 350W.

I would not advise having all that stuff working under a 250W PS. I you have the money buy a 300/350 FortronSource/Sparkle PS they seem have a higher quality. As far as your temps go...43C appears to be high, however; I have the same proc./HSF and post the your same temps...still working on a better cooling solution (perhaps an Alpha6035 is in order). A different compound might help as well. Post and let us know if you were able lower your temps and what you did.

Thanks,
Lee

Higher quality than what? Then antec, yes... Sparkle/Fortron-Source are better than antec.

But compared to the Enermax? The enermax is better than a fortron-source/sparkle.

I was just providing an example of a popular PS, I know (believe me) Enermax has a terrific and better quality rating. If you want power go with the Enermax.

dunno about your antec rating. It's up there .I think it won anandtech's vote for the best 300w power supply actually

And Anand's old power supply review wasn't a) done by anand, and b) didn't include enermax, and c) is almost 9 months old..

I have nothing against his review, but it was not the most comprehensive review out there. A lot of people seem to take his reviews as gospel(even when he doesn't do the review).

And notice I never said Antec was bad... It just isn't as good as Enermax or Fortron/Source(or Seventeam).
