Umm, I've been using 10W40 Mobil 1 in my CB450SC for years without problems. What possible reason can you give for not using regular car oil? (I'll also note that the manual for my CB450SC does not make any reference to "car" vs "motorcycle" oil.)Originally posted by: Eli
Motorcycle oils and car oils aren't the same. Don't use regular car engine oil in your bike.

The clutch. The lubricants that are great for car engines suck for motorcycle clutches. Now by happy coincidence there seems to be one exception to that, and guess what that is? Yep, mobile1. There is a special mobille 1 for bikes, but it has long been rumored that they are in fact the same oil. Who knows?
As far as your manual goes, once motorcycle oil and car oil were the same. If you look at the ratings and newer manuals, you find that the superslippery ones (cant remember the SAE designation off the top of my head) are the ones to avoid. Simply put, the oil in question most likely either did not exist, or were not recognized as a problem when it was written.
Ah. I've just been using regular Mobil 1 automotive oil. No clutch-slip that I've found at all.Originally posted by: Hayabusarider
