It's funky with catchy melodies and lyrics. Or maybe you could describe it as acid jazz with funky vocals. It's cool music.

Here's a bit of the description of Jamiroquai from the All Music guide:

Although some choose to pass off Jamiroquai as a Stevie Wonder-clone, the band has amassed a steady stream of hits in its native U.K. and has experienced chart success in just about every other area of the world with an irresistible blend of house rhythms and '70s-era soul/funk. The band has gone though several lineup changes during their career, but through it all their leader has remained singer/songwriter Jason Kay (aka J.K.)

Look, what kind of music do you listen to?

I'm not bashing it, im seriously interested to know what kind of music it would be categorized under. It sounds very retro, 70s sound.

Oh and I listen to literally all kinds of music save the screaming death metal bands.

Yeah, it is a bit retro, if you're talking about funk, acid jazz, etc. Jamiroquai had mainstream success in the UK, but in the USA people seem more close minded, and have less taste as well. I'm not necessarily a huge Jamiroquai fan, but I do think they are quite talented.

Americans are so pathetic. Anything out of the mainstream is 'gay' or 'queer'. It's no wonder nothing exciting (musically speaking) has come out of the US mainstream since... forever.

Some of his songs are ok if you don't hear them more than once every decade or so. As long as you don't hear any of his other songs during that time either.
