What kind of motherboard is it? Linux question..

I know I can check all the PCI things I want to by looking in /proc/pci.. and that told me about the chipset. But I have two BX based servers, and without driving downtown and cracking them open how can I figure out the mobo in either one? Possible? I want to upgrade a home system, and get a motherboard + 600Mhz+ CPU for my server, taking the 400Mhz server's CPU home..

Some motherboards that have ACPI enabled will also tell you the board name as part of that. I've seen a MSI board do it and also a Gateway/Intel one. This does require the 2.4 kernel and such, but it does work on some boards.

Opening the server is the better option as it also allows you to check for hardware revision levels
