Definitely get a widescreen LCD. Since you will be at your desk, anything in the 19"-24" range will suffice.

Why would you even consider a CRT? I guess if someone gives you one for free, it'll work, but why even bother?

If you don't mind spending some money your best bet would be something at least 24" that will produce 1920X1200 natively, and one that has HDMI if you have a 360 with HDMI. I know there was a link in hot deals for a Benq 24" refurbed for $400 or less.

EDIT: damn it, you specified VGA cables, well aside from the HDMI part above I stick with my suggestion

1920x1200 is kinda nice but not necessary for a 360. It can't push anything at 1080p anyway... not natively, at least. Technically, there's no need for a native resolution higher than 1280x800, but a 19" (1440x900) or 22" (1680x1050) LCD would do fine. I'm not sure if you can even buy a standalone 1280x800 LCD, unless you get a small LCD TV.

Well I have a 22" at 1680X1050 and it doesn't scale the best, it looks fine but could look better that's why I suggested the 1920X1200. Also there are plenty non-TV 24" LCD's out there, Benq, HP, Dell, Planar, NEC, Samsung, and Viewsonic all make them to name a few.

The NXE/Dash update that is coming on Wednesday will offer support for more resolutions.

edit: Currently supported VGA resolutions:

* 640 x 480
* 848 x 480
* 1024 x 768
* 1280 x 720 (equivalent to 720p)
* 1280 x 768
* 1280 x 1024
* 1360 x 768
* 1920 x 1080

As I said above though. More resolutions are going to be added in the update next Wednesday.

That's a good point, and in the past, it would have indeed been better to look at a larger monitor so you don't have to use the monitor's pixel interpolation function (they are generally kind of fuzzy and don't look good). However, they've recently added support for a wide range of resolutions over VGA, so the image going to the LCD matches the monitor's native resolution.

It's still going to be upscaled (not pure 1080p content), but it looks better when the Xbox upscales it than when the monitor does.

EDIT: Queasy, the current dash revision also supports more resolutions. I don't know exactly when they added that support but I know they didn't have it when I first got my Xbox (May of this year) but they did have it as of about two months ago.

Yeah, I just added that to my post. 1680x1050 that mc866 mentioned isn't supported. That is why I mentioned the new resolutions in the update.

Thanks guy i'm defitinelty get a lcd widescreen but the reason i listed scrt is that someone told me if produces better graphics when you use vga cables.And mc866 my budget is limited to about 150-200 that is the reason i'm going this route instead of buying a hdtv to play my 360.

I'd get the NewEgg one. It's cheaper and has a wide aspect ratio, which you really want. Games today are designed for widescreen monitors, not standard aspect ratio ones.

Queasy: I'm a bit confused because I could have sworn that 1680x1050 was an option now, but maybe I'm wrong. I'm quite sure that 1440x900 is an option though, at the very least.

Regardless, if you get a 19" widescreen LCD, it'll look just fine. Then all you need to do is get an adapter to use headphones or speakers (if you don't already have one).
