I want to know what kind of RAM I have. There's two markings on the chip, a sticker and a stamp.
Sticker:
NEC USA
MC-45V16AD641KF-A75
9945F13296
128MB-64/K-F-1.2
Stamp:
NEC JAPAN
D4565821G5
-A75-9JF
9942E9014

Does anybody know what this means?

How can you tell? Also, is do you know if it's 7.5ns or 8ns, or if it can reach 150MHz?

Yeah, why would you think that its micron ram? they say NEC on the chips..

Micron's are designated with a "small m, long t" in the front of each chip marking.

Also, the 75 at the end designates them as 7.5 ns ram, which si good for 133.. it may or may not hit 150.

it looks like i have VC-SDRAM rated at 133MHz. it's supposed to be able to reach 143MHz, but it is via dependent. i wonder how it'll do on a bx?

yeah i know, that's why i was wondering how it's gonna go on a bx. just for curiosity. i'm selling it to a friend along with a p3-667 and a tyan trinity 400 mobo. they belong together.

i'm debating whether to get the Memory Man Mosel Vitalic CAS2 PC133 128MB or the Mushkin 128MB High Performance w/ Mosel REV2 PC133 222. i'm leaning towards the memory man stick right now. it's supposed to hit hit 154-156MHz at CAS2 and 160-161MHz at CAS3 and it's a few bucks cheaper.

both will hit high fsb's @ cas2..

As well the Crucial 7E sticks(cas2 133, I have it at 150fsb Cas2, several others on the board do as well, and Painman has it at 155 fsb Cas2).

If you're interested in the crucial stuff, just reply and i'll find a link to it.

I have the Crucial 7E parts and I have Infinion from Memory man and let me tell you first hand the Crucial kicks ass but you have to get the 7E parts they are 7ns 133 cas 2 parts and they will exceed 150 mhz cas 2 with out a sweat.

unfortunately it's all sold out. they said that a new shipment is supposed to come in mid next week, but the price isn't guaranteed to stay down, even if you order now. best case, i get some crucial next week and return my mosel. worst case, i get stuck with the mosel...

either way i'm happy...

oh, you already have mosel? just keep it.. it'll do 150+ cas2, as well... it just costs a bit more than the crucial stuff.

Heh... some clarification :)

I DID have my Crucial running at 155 FSB CAS2 for a while but the USB on my P3V4X would randomly freak. So I put the system back down to 150 MHz. But the RAM could certainly take 155. :) It could even take 160 with the FSB at 120 and the CPU/memory ratio set to 3:4.

It's chugging away at 140 right now on a CUBX board. I haven't updated my sig 'cos I'm not going to be keeping the CUBX in the system long enough to bother. Nice board, but not enough FSB speeds to drive my new FCPGA 700 to its maximum potential. Time for a BXmaster or a CUSL2!
