I'm no pro-gamer, but I have a nice list of accomplishments in online FPS games--a hundred or so gold medals in 64 player BF1942, etc.
Personally, I prefer corded ball-tracking mice. I'm used to the small non-contoured shape and can maneuver it with my finger tips. If I know I need to make a sudden move, I can lift it off the pad and set it on the other side of the mouse pad before sliding it across when this same motion would cause an optical mouse to shift around erratically. Some may say, "Dude, increase the mouse sensitivity settings!", but if you can spin around with only a subtle move, then you've lost the ability to finely target rapidly.
Just wondering if I'm alone/wrong.
