I have a Toshiba 2715Xdvd notebook with 64 mb of sdram, 3.3 volt, I think and I wanted to know what kind of memory do I need to buy - the documentation that I could find on the Toshiba website does not say whether it is PC100 or PC133 or some other specification. Does anyone know?

Also, a related question - I notice that it takes a long time to close multiple windows or load webpages - what is the problem - my 500mhz CPU or that I have only 64 megs of ram - which upgrade will provide the most bang for the buck - can my CPU be upgraded - up to how much?

Thanks for the help!!

Crucial says that the memory is PC100, and they're pretty much always right. As for your question, laptop CPUs are hard, if not impossible, to upgrade since they're often not a desktop CPU, and are soldered in permanently to the motherboard. Having multiple windows open taxes the memory more than anything, so your best bet is to upgrade to at least 192MB, perhaps more. A 500Mhz chip should be fine for web surfing, etc.

Crucial is a good company to buy the RAM from (use the link at top left this page) since if you use their RAM selection wizard they guarantee it will fit and work fine, plus you get the lifetime warranty.

If you need PC100, get PC133 instead. It's cheaper. All specs are the same, except it's faster :)

The only problem I would see with this advice is that Crucial's Memory Finder for that computer recommends only PC100. I'm sure you could buy PC133, but then you'd have to find it elsewhere on the site, and I'm not sure if Crucial would guarantee its compatibility since then there is no assurance that the PC133 will work in the laptop (some laptops do have problems running PC133 at PC100 speeds). The best bet is to go with what Crucial has, it'll turn out better in the long run :)

Laptops are sometimes a bit funny about PC100/PC133. Sometimes PC133 won't work in a laptop expecting PC100
