Age old delemma: Get the 3GHz laptop hoping it will last 3 or 4 years now for $1200, or get a $600-$700 laptop now and another $6-700 laptop in 2 years or so.
 
Never buy for the future. For example, lets say you could spend $700 on a 300MHz laptop like 4 years ago, or $1000 for a 500MHz. How much of a difference nowadays is 300 vs 500? Not much!
 
i would wait till the dell 600m drops below $1000 again, it will undoubtablly last 3 years, then u can sell it for at least $500, add another $500 and get the newer equivilant
