I call up Onvia to cancel an order that was on backorder (Not in stock). I thought it wouldn't be a problem since the product wouldn't be in until 1/04.

So I call them up and say I want to cancel, but the CSR says they can't cancel until the site is updated to say that the product is out of stock. I'm thinking: "WTF? YOu can't cancel a freakin simple order?" THey said check back on the site and/or refuse shipment when it comes. I maintained my composure and said OK.

I've always liked Onvia, but they can't get freakin software to allow them to override a simple order cancelation?

Merry freakin Christmas!

Just refuse the delivery if it shows up, it's not a big deal. If you can, try calling them back when you see they updated the site. Their ordering system probably prevents them from modifying any orders until they reach a certain point.

Onvia is going through a changeover as they parcel out all retail functions to Firstsource.com. I'm not sure if that's what the problem is, but I'm sure that's part of it - they really aren't handling much of the order processing anymore, but they haven't fully turned things over yet either.

Good luck.

The problem is that I'll be out of town until Sunday, so only my mom and sister will be home. I also placed an order for another monitor later that night, so there may be some confusing.

dang it.

You don't actually have to refuse it upon delivery, just don't open the package and the next time the delivery person is there tell them the company told you to refuse the package, they'll take care of it. I did this with an Amazon order & had no problems.

Well if it is on b/o until 01/04 it won't matter if you are out of town until Sunday. It won't come until you are back.

Yeah, I don't want to take any chances of having to foot the bill on another 300 dollar monitor around. Its actually being sent to my school address, so I'll just tell the people in the mail room to refuse it.

Yo Ma Ma: That idea was running thru my mind. I dunno if this will apply, but Samsung will not Onvia accept returns. Since I won't open it up, I don't see why I can't return it to Onvia.

Call Onvia back, tell them you ARE cancelling the order. If they tell you they can't, tell them they can duke it out with your Credit Card Comp.

Hang up, call your CC and refute the charge.

This is ALWAYS my procedure for cancelling online orders.

Good luck!
