what kind of indoor antenna to get?

so I have an HDTV, basic cable, but no HD service. Thats not an issue as I dont watch tv a lot any ways. However, is it true that if I buy an antenna, I can actually get pick up some local HD channels? If so, what do you guys reccommend for an antenna?

I prefer an indoor one. any specs I need to consider, and/or compatibility issue?

Zenith / Phillips "Silver Sensor" type antennas are de facto standard for indoor antennas, but probably have a realistic range of say 20 - 30 miles.

If your tv has a QAM tuner, you can get the local channels in hi-def for free by federal law. Otherwise, you may want to consider constructing a coat-hanger antenna if you want a good one for in-doors http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=EWQhlmJTMzw
