What kind of hardware would I need?

What kind of hardware would I need to play a game like Call of Duty 2 at the same time as I run a movie on a seperate monitor through S-video?

I currently have a 7800GT, 1.8 ghz athlon 64, and 1GB of ram. Everytime I try it with this hardware, the video stops working.

One thing for sure, you need another gig of RAM. And I would think a dual core cpu should be seriously considered.

COD2 is a very taxing game all in its own. I have a 7800gt with 2gbs ram and it pushes my system to the max but I really dont know. I've never seen this question brought up. Your asking a lot from your GPU but like I said its a question I would like to see answered, but im afraid your not going to like the answer

Is ur brain dual core?

Just curious why u would want to run a movie while playing cod2

I like running movies in the background while I'm playing. Seeing that my collection of 300+ movies is on the same computer I play games on, there rises the dilemma.

IT CAN BE DONE! barely....
The problem lies in the fact that both programs are trying to run full screen. My rig is in my sig. I was able to run COD2 at 15 fps with Boondock Saints on my tv. The movie looks fine. I had to set COD2 to "Run in window" and I did not maximize the video. I used WMP. When I maximized the movie I got a codec error. I'm not sure if this is b/c my WMP is a little messed up or its a limitation.

EDIT: CPU usage around 60% average of both cores. CPU usage for single core will most likely max out. I am using S-Video to output to TV. Better FPS may be achieved by lowereding setting. I have a large monitor running at 1680x1050 with all the setting maxed out. 16x AA 8x AF....

Oh, good info! I'll check this out. Thanks!

My bad. lol That is for DOD2. I always mix them up. I'll c if I can find a way to put COD2 in window mode.

EDIT: http://www.tweakguides.com/COD2_9.html
There is stuff there on how to run COD2 in widowed mode. GL.

Yea, unfortunantly I found that earlier. It hasn't worked so far. I type in r_fullscreen 0

I then press enter, exit out, start back up and it is still fullscreen. Anyone know of another way that might work?

I think you need to enter it into the config.cfg or edit the target for the COD2 shortcut. add "+r_fullscreen 0" to the end.
