What kind of hard drive do I need?

I have a 3 and a half year old Dell Optiplex 745 computer that I bought second hand and I need to put a new SATA hard drive in it. I want to get a 500GB or so WD drive but I see there's some that are just SATA and some that are SATA 3 and some that are 3 GB/s and some 6GB/s.

How can I find out if the Optiplex 745 can work with the 6 GB/s drive ?

TIA

You need a SATA II 3.0Gbps drive. Your Dell is too old for SATA III 6Gbps.

WD drives are great, I've always had good luck with them.

Samsung Spinpoint drives offer excellent value/dollar.
