What kind of FSB can I reasonably expect from a 780i + a quad?

I'm slowly going insane trying to get my 780i to run anything substantially over stock speed on my Q9450. I previously had the same type of issues with a G0 Q6600, I never managed above 333 reliably (for 3 GHz, which is pathetic).

When I replaced the CPU I also upgraded to some much faster RAM, 8 GB of Patriot 1066 rated 1066 @ 5-5-5-15.

My problem is random hardlocking. I've never seen an error in Prime, I was able to eliminate all errors in linpack by upping the CPU voltage to the ~1.3 territory (at 3.4 GHz). Memtest runs fine. It will run for days and then just randomly freeze. Temps are all fine. I can make it into windows & run linpack @ 3.6 GHz (450x8), & pass 100 runs with all 8 GB of RAM. But it will still freeze randomly. The Folding@Home SMP client seems to be the best way to make it crash, but it will do it even with no FAH clients running.

I can't even get 400x6 to run reliably, it made it three days before freezing today. I've tried 3.6 GHz with only two DIMMs installed, I made it all of half an hour running Folding@Home. I'm now back down to 400x6 with only two DIMMs. I suspect that will crash too but it will probably take a week to do it.

Full system:

Noctua heatpipe tower with push/pull 120 mm fans
60mm aftermarket on the NB HS, thermal paste mod + shims on back of motherboard to get good contact for SPP + MCP
4xPatriot 2 GB DIMMS (rated at 5-5-5-15 @ 1066, running at 6-6-6-18-2T @ 800-900 depending on FSB selection)
3xEVGA 8800GTS 512's
The usual assortment of two HDD's, three DVD drives
Thermaltake Toughpower 750W

BIOS settings I was using for 3.4 GHz (425x8)

VCORE: 1.30V
FSB: 1.30
DIMM: 2.1
SPP: 1.4-1.45
MCP: 1.525
SPP<>MCP: 1.25

I have another 780i board showing up tomorrow (new in box), half of me wants to open it up & see if it does any better. I really want to keep both 780i systems for now, one for it's ESXi support (which is oddly good) and the main system for it's 3x PCI-e x16 slots.

But I also want to get at least 400 MHz with all 8 GB installed. I would be content with 400, happy with 425, and positively thrilled with 450. Is that just too much to ask of 780i, or is my board just a total dud?
