What kind of FPS do u ppl get with UT2k3 using Geforce3 cards?

cause i have mine on Ath XP 2100+ and geforce 3 is overclocked quite nicely as well (look at sig).. but I still get only about 25fps avg on most maps or lower if there are lot of ppl...

i am using 1024x768 with all settings on "higher". physics on high. ive already gone thru ut tweaking and still getting about the same..
i must admit the game looks very good, probably best looking game on my computer so far, but I'm sick of getting owned by cpu because of lag when there is lot of action.

If I am getting normal performance for geforce3, what settings can i lower without losing too much of impact on graphics?

Hi,
Go to Hard OCP, download their benchmark software for UT2003,use that to benchmark.
i get;-
60fps high
128fps low
129 cpu
The benchmark is just fly-bys, but if we can get a standardisation for UT2003 benchmarking it`ll make it far easyier to compare results between computers.
Check my sig for my GF3 OC`d speeds.

thanx.. i got the hard ocp benchmark and ran high quality and cpu test so far (didnt know it ran that many maps...)
I dont know what u mean by ur numbers, did u mean avg? and what resolution did u run high and low quality in?

here are my results.

High QUality:---- Low FPS------AVG.FPS------High.FPS

dm-antalus-------19.6------------33.7----------188.2
dom-suntemple--10.1------------22.75---------234.2
dm-phobos2------7.9--------------27.4----------373.9
ill just list avg for others, dm-inferno 28.27, face3 18.4, citadel 45.9, asbestos 43.5

and For CPU TEST, Low 40.3, AVG 97.2 High 370.9

ill go ahead and run low quality test now (on 1024x768)...
what do u think so far? low numbers? I dont get it, since i get normal results for my specs on sandra and other bench/games...

Hi again,
I did an avarage, when it gave me all of my results at the end of the tests, add them together and devide by the number of results that you added. This will give you your average fps.
I did 1027*768 at all resolutions.
The Phobos one seems a little low, but that might just be anomalie. Do the averages then post back, i`ll kep an eye on the thread.
Do all detail settings in the benchmark program for a more accurate comparison(High, Low, CPU).

if what u mean is to add up all the average and devide it by number of maps...

High:31.5
Low:88.5
CPU:97.2

oh well.. my AA is off but anisotropic setting is at 8x.. wonder if that's why.

LOL,
i`d say so, anisotropic filtering is a performance killer with a GF3.
If you switch that off then you will probably get similar if not better fps than me.
Try it and see.

Ive gota admit, it is odd that i get i higher CPU fps than you. You have a faster CPU, and DDR mem, i only have SDR mem.
Have you tested the CPU again without the anisotropic filtering?
What OS are you running, are you running anything in the background?
Does your Mobo have CPU Temp Speed Throttling? If so, it might be throttling back your CPU if the cooling on it is insufficiant.

Apart from that, i havnt a clue why im getting better scores. My rig is highly optimised in all departments, but not enough to make a 30fps increase in score, i`ll retest again later, as ive just updated my vid drivers to 40.72 from 29.50.

i kinda figured it out.. u have color depth at 16bit dont u...
after setting it on 16bit I got a cpu score im supposed to get!, but didnt try the others yet, since they take awhile. :p
thanx for helpin me out, if u say its not on 16bit, then im really stumped..

running on win XP.
highly optimized OS, Videocard, memory, bios... u name it.. of course UT2k3 tweaked as well.

Hi again,
I hate to burst your bubble in your moment of triumph, but i run in 32bit colour, theres only a few fps difference in games when using a GF3 and above.

Im going to re-test in about 30mins from making this post, then upto 1hour later, i`ll reply with my results.

Hi
I tested again, the CPU one ran fine, for some reason, the High and Low benchmarks crash after a few maps, so i didnt bother with them.
here are the CPU fps in detail.

CPU
Low 52.188442 FPS
Average 133.886765 FPS
High 426.036407 FPS

My CPU is an OC`d XP1800 @ XP1900 Speeds.
41*c after tests,
1.8v voltage
11.5x multiplier
1610mhz core clock speed
Memory at 140mhz
FSB at 280mhz
AGP bus 70mhz (280mhz 4x data rate) No fast writes/sideband addressing
PCI Bus 35mhz

Drivers for video card
V-Sync Off
AA Off
Anisotropic Filtering Off
Quality Mip-Mapping
Other Settings to Quality
Clocked at 230mhz Core 510mhz Memory W/Additional Cooling(Thermaltake Crystal Orb @ 7V)

All of my settings are above, if that helps.
Gota go...eat......food.....mmmmmmm
Will check back later.

What program are you using to benchmark UT2003 Brian48? I dont recognise it.

It's the default Benchmark.exe utility found in your UT2003/System directory.

I've installed win98 in hopes of seeing some improvement,.... to find out that hard benchmarker only works with xp/2000 :D just my luck...

other than that im getting same scores if i run it on 32-bit.. its odd how I get over 130 cpu marks when i run it on 16-bit...
perhaps its a driver issue? maybe ill try these new 41.09..

benchmarks mean nothing, play the game, i get the same problem, the fps really drop under heavey fire and lots of people on the screen, look at my water cooled system in my sig, my gf3 is overclocked as well, but it just chokes.

we even set up a dedicated server in our house thinking maybe it was the lan latency, but it only improved it a slight amount.

kind of disapointing, guess i'll have to wait till the gffx comes out so that i can pick up a radeon cheap, or a 4600 cheap

im running a athlon 1.2 with pny verto gf3 rig, but i get really low fps in ut2k3. with AA off, 1024x768x32, i average about 40 fps on dm-antalus, and this drops down to 20 when i am shooting a bot. but this is with software audio on, when i turn on hardware audio, my fps drop down to avg 25 fps. most of my settings are on low or normal, but i still get this low performance. what can i do?

specs:
cpu - athlon 1.2
mem - 256 pc2100 ddr
vid - pny verto gf3 (not o/ced)
sound - philips acoustic edge

Hi,
again. I see many people are giving crap the software audio in UT2003 increase fps, but it dont it lowers it. For two reasons i`ll explain this.
1) I have it set to Hardware3D+EAX (i have an audigy)and it runs over 10-15fps faster than in software audio.
2)Look at it logically, when has software something ever been faster than hardware? Thats why most GFX cards now have hardware T&L, cos the CPU was too slow in doing it in software.

MustangSVT, any luck in your quest for higher fps?
Have a look at a hardware forums dedicated to UT2003, like the offical infogrames one, before you post though, look for any posts that other people have done with the same problem.

Ive gotta admit, most of you people have faster CPUs+RAM, more OC`d GF3s and lower resolutions and detail levels, and i still get far higher FPS than you lot. This is just F*~:mad:D up.
In DM-Antilus, i get about 40fps, then about 30fps when theres multiple bots on screen.

Download a program called FRAPS, its a small program that sits in the background, and when you run a game, it shows you the FPS in the corner, you can also get it to do an average fps.

Hi,
Just a thought, set your physics level to low. That takes up lots of CPU time.

Heres a tip for the built in benchmarker, if you want to run it/them without using the low/high detail configs, delete/rename them and place the user one that UT2003 makes it the benchmark directory. It will then test with your settings that you set in the in game options menu.
