that's the problem. i don't have a regular doctor. i use specialists for everything (my choice).

if i feel 'sick' i go to one of those "first med" places...

Just go to a walk-in clinic and get it looked at.

Unless you have a circulatory or immune system problem why would you go to a doctor over a small infection in a digit?
