What kind of discounts/coupons are available for Lenovo?

I am debating between a lenovo for its quality and a dell for its price. I was wondering if lenovo often offers coupons or as a college student I would be eligeble for a discount.

Ideally a T60 with:

Core Duo 1.66
14.1" 1400x1050
1 gig
CD-RW/DVD-ROM

Dell would likely be a E1505

Check out forum.thinkpads.com for a lot more information. Off the top of my head, you might qualify for educational discounts or VISA or MC perks that equal to 10-15% off.

The T60 looks sweet and you won't be disappointed.

College students do get discounts from Lenovo, but I think it has to be shipped to your school. I was looking at a T60p that normally retailed for over $3000 but with the discount, it was around $2600. I went for a MacBookPro though since the specs were almost identical and I didn't have to wait for it to ship.

edit: this was the one I was looking at which is an awesome setup for $2600. They start at $1200 and go on up to $2900.

Not to spam my own thread.... (Still want to hear from anyone with tips on getting a Lenovo discount)

Could you explain to me what some of lenovo's terminology means? What is the "ultrabay slim"? Is it the optical drive, if so, why is it listed as a second option besides the optical drive? Does the X series have an optical drive?

X series does not have a built in optical drive. You can either opt for a docking station with the ultrabay (I have this with the DVD burner) or the "media slice" with an ultrabay (I'd recommend this as it's portable incase you need a cd/dvd player while your not in the dorm). Both are fairly expensive accessories and the ultrabay drives are expensive as well, I think my burner cost somewhere around 300 bucks when I bought it last June with my X41 tablet.
