I used to have a 2 hour video on the history of the A-Bomb. It showed actual explosions for the 2 hours from start to finish. The underwater test ones were great.

Not much of an explosion, just lots and lots of radiation. Hopefully they would scuttle it before there was a serious problem.

Nothing like sending the problem, and pollution, to the bottom of the ocean.......

actually the open ocean is a much better place than , say, a meltdown on land. all that water dillutes the thing really quickly.

If the reactor explodes on the surface material will be sent into the atmosphere and badly contaminate anything nearby. If you sink it in 1000+ feet of very cold water it shoud be ok.
