What kind of credit does Verizon Wireless require on new plans?

I'm a college student and my cell phone plan with AT&T is almost up. Currently it's under my father's name, although I pay for it completely. I'm looking to switching providers and having it under my name. However, when activating and starting a new plan, they look into my credit history. I currently have college loans with Fleet, an AMEX Blue Student card with a $600 limit (paid balance full since I've had it), a standard checking account, and a savings account. Do I have a chance of getting it on my own? Will they approve me?

Title EDITED, thanks RossMAN :)

Go to experian.com and run your credit and fico score for 12.95 to see how you stand. Sometimes cellular companies will deny you if you have been delinquent a few times.

Is your current AT&T cell phone only under your fathers name or his and yours? Probably just his.

Have you made all your current loan/cc payments on time (never over 30 days late)?

Have you had steady credit for at least 1 year?

Cell phone credit isn't that difficult to qualify for. Sprint PCS seems to be the easiest, they qualified me for 5 PHONES three years ago.

Here's a thread you may want to read, click me.

Yea, the AT&T is in his name, but I pay for it every month online. I've had my AMEX since August 2001 and I've made every payment on time since then. I wanted to goto Chinatown this week and get a Verizon plan, and I'm hoping that my credit will pass with no down payment.

It sounds like you have a good chance at qualifying.

Maybe edit your thread's title to include Verizon, then some Verizon ATers can chime in on their experiences of being declined or approved for cell credit.

Well I'm 19 and I work at WalMart and I was approved with no problems. :)

Seriously though, I've never had a problem being approved for ANYTHING. I have a $2,000 Amex Blue, $3,500 Discover Classic, and I HAD a $1,000 VISA until I cancelled it, plus my cell phone. I'm not sure how or why i developed credit so quickly since I've only had a job for just under a year. (I was qualified for that VISA before I EVER had a job of ANY kind)

You should be fine.
