What kind of cooking range is better? Gas or electric?

GAS by far. Better and faster heat control, boils stuff faster, and to top it all off it's much more likely to catch things on fire or explode, making it clearly the more manly choice.

Gas, it is so much better then electric, Imagine having an oven that heats up in like 2 minutes or less, as opposed to 10-20. And the only gas cooker I've used was older then I am (at least 20 years old)

I'd prefer gas but electric is certainly useable.

If I was doing a remodel and had the choice, I'd go with gas.

wow. 16 votes and all for Gas.

I prefer gas myself, but have read that electric cooks better more often than not. I guess it really depends on the stove.

Gas. Don't think twice about it if you live in an area that offers natural gas.

My guess is, whoever wrote what you read was smoking Ice at the time.

Gas is instant heat control. There is a reason why restuarants use gas, because its simply better for cooking.
We don't have town gas available in our street, so when I redid the kitchen I put an LPG cooktop in and have a couple of big cylinders down the side of the house. Costs me about $70 a year to run.

If your going to cook up an occasional batch of meth. Go with electric. Less chance of an explosion. If your just cooking food. Go with gas.

Range = gas. No question.
Oven = convection electric.
Speed cook? Combination of halogen or infrared.
Deep fryer? Gas.

electric induction range (the ceramic "glass" top) is not bad... heats up instantly, superb heat control, and gets real hot

but still.. NOTHING > gas

No power. It's worse than an actual coil. It sucks.

Granted I've never seen a gas oven, but why use an electric oven over gas?
